Damini Adelaja M.S., CF-SLP

CF-SLP

Hi, my name is Damini! I’m a clinical fellow in speech-language pathology and excited to be a member of the Scoop Speech team. My upbringing has blessed me with a great appreciation for cultural and linguistic diversity; I’m a proud Haitian/Nigerian-American raised in a multilingual household. My inspiration to become a speech-language pathologist also started with my family. My younger brother, who doubles as my best friend, is a person who stutters. Growing up together gave me an appreciation for communication differences from a young age. Ever since, I’ve aspired to help children feel confident and heard. I earned my double-major Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication and Child Psychology from Georgia State University and completed my Master’s degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders at New York University. I have five years of experience working with pediatric populations, ranging from early intervention to adolescents; prior to pursuing speech-language pathology, I was a kindergarten teacher who loved making everyday in the classroom fun. I love working with children and find joy in the development that can come from play and creativity.

In my free time, I love expressing myself creatively! I’m a visual artist and enjoy acrylic painting, interior design, nail art, and polymer clay figurine-making. I’m also an animal lover; I’m a fur mom to four adorable cats, Kojima, Esmeralda, Pearl, and Sage, and a loving Labrador-Pit mix, Aura. I also love houseplants and indoor gardening, keeping my home full of love and life.
